apod 2.6

This week's picture features the beautiful Sculptor Galaxy. Because it is one of the brightest galaxies in the night sky many people are able to catch a glance, through a telescope, of the slightly angled, very dusty galaxy. The Sculptor Galaxy lies in the constellation Sculptor about 10 million light years away. The galaxy does not just lye alone, but, is one of a local galaxy group and that group is the closest galaxy group to our local galaxy group. overall, the galaxy is one of star formation and development that will be producing stars for a very long time.
